In the old days, film makers had to hand-crank their cameras and projectors. Now, to make a Silent Movie, all you need are PowerPoint or Keynote.
A Silent Movie is 30 slides that automatically advance every 3 seconds. The result is a 90-second presentation that proceeds at a set pace. These presentations use text, graphics, photos, and drawings, anything needed to make the point. They can be simple or complicated. Serious or funny.
The focus is on the visual medium, so no sound effects, music or voice. No transitions. No animations. Just thoughtful design and a good story.
The slides change every 3 seconds, so the challenge is to make visuals that are strong enough to hold attention for that long. Changes in pace have to be done visually.
